LAX Airport has a U-shaped layout with a double-level road encircling airport parking inside the U, while all terminals are positioned on the outside. Departing flights use the upper level, and arriving flights utilize the lower level.

The airport comprises 9 terminals, numbered 1 through 8, plus the Regional Terminal and Terminal B, also known as the Tom Bradley International Terminal. How you move from one terminal to another will depend on where you’re traveling to and whether you prefer to stay airside the secure area to avoid the need to re-clear security.

About Terminal 6

Terminal 6 contains 10 gates, numbering Gates 60, 62, 64A-C, 68B, and 69A. T6 also hosts the Alaska Lounge, the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge, and a Gameway.

Within the secure area, passengers can easily move between Terminals 4 through 8 via the underground tunnel to Terminal 5 or by using the airside connectors near security to reach Terminal 7 and Terminal 8. Additionally, Terminals 1, 3, and B are accessible through airside connectors that start from Terminal 4.

• Information Services There are more than 175 agents at the information desks in the arrivals area of each terminal. They are available from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on weekdays and from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekends.
• The Children’s Play Areas for 2-11-year-old kids are located in Terminal B on Level 4.
• Travelers’ Aid desks are not available at LAX.

Transport Options at LAX Airport

Trains

• Amtrak: The nearest Amtrak service is at Union Station, which can be reached via the FlyAway Bus directly from the airport.

Bus

• FlyAway Bus: Follow signs for “FlyAway, Buses & Long Distance Vans” to reach the pick-up area. The FlyAway Bus offers direct routes to Union Station and Van Nuys, with a one-way ticket to Union Station priced at $9.75.
• Metro Bus: Use the free airport shuttle from the lower level outside each terminal in the pink “LAX” signposted area. This shuttle connects to the Metro bus station, providing services throughout Los Angeles and beyond.

Security and Customs at the Alaska Airlines LAX Terminal 

Every terminal at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has a security checkpoint, with Terminal 8 sharing its checkpoint with Terminal 7. You can check the estimated wait times online on the airport’s website. The checkpoints usually operate between 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. and close between 11:30 p.m. and 2:30 a.m.

TSA PreCheck

Inside Security
